Timely Advice

Time...it not only escapes me, but it actually seems to run from me sometimes...literally RUN.  Any other SAHMs out there feel that way? Seriously, I have every single modern convenience available to the modern homemaker to make my life easier, simpler, and what do those things actually do? Well, for starters, they clutter up my home. Clutter equals more dust. Dust equals more cleaning...which equals (you guessed it!) more of my time running away from me.

I have books...all kinds of books. Books to help me be a better housewife.  Books to help me clean better. Books to help me manage my time.  Yet, I can't seem to find the time to read those books. Oh, and let's not forget the books to help me get my diet on track:  books about eating whole foods. How I long to read those recipes. So, tonight when I order pizza for my family, maybe I'll take the time to read some...

My absolute favorite subject to tackle someday is clutter. Do you have any idea how many books I own on the topic of clutter alone?  Yep, but then...that defeats the purpose, doesn't it?  Those books become...well, clutter.  Unfortunately, I often can't even FIND those books in the midst of the...er...well...clutter.

I long to simplify...because I really feel that that is when I'm at my best:  when my world is simplified, and I can focus on what my Savior wants me to do.  Instead, I often feel like all the clutter and chaos around me call and beckon me to take care of it.  How I long to just sit in a corner chair somewhere (after pushing some books about clutter off of the chair and onto the floor...HA!) and just spend time drinking coffee and also drinking in the Word of God.  In doing that, everything is right with my world...even though it may seem like it's not. Yet, that time with Him gives me the strength to go on...and I can laugh at the days ahead (see Proverbs 31:25) and at the clutter and dustballs that want to consume all my time...

So, that time with Him needs to be a priority, and no book or modern convenience can take the blessing of that precious time away from me.  There is ONE book and one book alone that I can't afford to misplace or lose in the midst of this life's clutter.
